Nuke a City Code Rewards
Playtime Points, Crates, and why BOOM is not a shortcut to the nuclear dropper.
The only confirmed Nuke a City code as of September 2026 is BOOM. Trackers disagree on the Playtime Point number (50 in some write-ups, 100 in others) but they agree on the bundle: Playtime Points plus one Crate. This page is not another copy of the Codes Hub table. It is what those two gifts do once they are on your account.
Cash from a 100 EXP launch and Playtime Points from a code are different currencies. Mixing them up is how people rebirth too early or ignore the money loop because they think a crate replaced the nuclear dropper.
Playtime Points are not launch cash
Playtime Points accrue while you are in a server and from promo strings like BOOM. They sit next to the research track, not next to the cash counter that pays for fountains, poison droppers, and plot expand.
What they are good for:
- Nudging the same long-term meters you already tick by staying logged in.
- Feeding rebirth planning, because Research Points from the statue and Playtime Points from codes both point at permanent quality-of-life, not at a single rocket.
- Helping later research shop rows: money multipliers, walk speed, more explosives, and higher caps on totems and potions.
What they cannot do:
- Buy the nuclear dropper (player reports put that machine around 85,000 cash after plot expand).
- Pay the rebirth statue (about 1.5 million cash in the same reports).
- Raise rocket level by themselves (rocket levels around 19 max are a cash and EXP problem).
- Replace dropper upgrade spam. Players push individual droppers into the hundreds and talk about 1000 as a late flex. That is cash.
If a code ever granted raw cash, it would say so on the Codes Hub. BOOM does not.
Crates are a roll, not a machine
The Crate is a one-shot container. Community reports put money, explosives, or short boosts inside. Treat it like a booster pack, not like plot expand.
Open rules that actually matter:
- Open it in a session you will play. A duration buff that starts while you are about to close Roblox is a wasted roll. Explosives already grow offline without a crate.
- Open it before rebirth. The wipe deletes machines, cash, fuse chain, and layout. An unopened crate is easy to forget in that scramble.
- Do not expect a nuclear dropper, a max totem, or a rocket skip. Those are tier list and shop problems.
If the Crate dumps cash, spend it on the next bottleneck on your plot, not on vanity layout. Early on that is extra dropper upgrades or the fountain. Later it is plot expand so nuclear, poison, and the rebirth statue even exist as purchases.
If the Crate dumps explosives, you still have to load the rocket and press Control. Extra fill does not auto-launch. The shared city does not care that your crate was lucky; it cares that the nuke actually left the pad.
How rewards interact with research and totems
Rebirth is the real research faucet. Players report about 5 Research Points per wipe. Codes do not match that on a per-click basis, and they should not. BOOM is a free bump so you are not entirely gated on sitting AFK for playtime.
Research purchases that players chase after a few wipes:
- Money multipliers (the first buy that makes every future 100 EXP launch pay more).
- Walk speed (the plot gets wide once fuse chain, poison, and nuclear are down).
- More explosives per cycle.
- Higher maximum totems and potions so later boosts stack instead of capping.
Totems and potions are consumers of that research cap, not of the BOOM Crate itself. A crate boost might look similar for a few minutes. Research is what stays after you close the game and after you rebirth.
Playtime Points from the code are the closest promo analog to “I was here.” They do not replace the statue. They make the statue’s shop slightly less painful so you can get back to the money loop faster.
When a crate is weaker than playing the loop
Nuke a City is a 6-player online tycoon with personal bases and a shared city. The loop that actually prints cash is still:
Dropper machines produce explosives, you fill to 100 EXP, you load the rocket, you press Control, you collect cash, you buy or upgrade machines, you eventually rebirth.
A Crate cannot skip plot expand. It cannot place the nuclear dropper, which is the late-game standout on the tier list. It cannot rebuild a fuse chain that already sat in the low-20s before a wipe. If you open BOOM and then stand still, you have converted a promo into a slightly nicer AFK timer. If you open BOOM and then upgrade the current dropper, you have converted it into a faster next launch.
Offline growth already covers the “I walked away” case. Use the Crate for the minutes you are at the keyboard.
Practical spend order after you redeem
- Redeem BOOM with either method on how to redeem.
- Open the Crate immediately.
- If you received cash, push the current dropper or the next machine on your plot, not a decorative extra pad.
- If you received a timed boost, start a fill to 100 EXP so the boost covers a launch, not a loading screen.
- Leave Playtime Points alone. They are not a shop you click like cash.
- Only then think about the rebirth statue.
New codes, if Nuclear Fun posts any, should be assumed to follow the same split unless the Codes Hub says otherwise: points for the long term, a crate for the current session, nothing that replaces the nuclear dropper.
For machine priority after the crate is gone, use the tier list. For turning launches into cash that actually buys those machines, use how to make money. The code is a head start, not a second tycoon running beside the first.
Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers to the most common questions.
Does BOOM give cash or Playtime Points?
Playtime Points plus one Crate. Sources report 50 or 100 points. It is not a cash code. The live row is on the Codes Hub.
Should I open the Crate before I rebirth?
Yes. Rebirth wipes machines, cash, fuse chain, and layout. Open the Crate in a session you will actually play so a timed boost is not wasted offline.
Do Playtime Points buy the nuclear dropper?
No. The nuclear dropper is a cash purchase after plot expand (around 85,000 cash in player reports). Playtime Points help the research side. See the tier list for machine priority.
How do code rewards help research and totems?
Playtime Points feed the long-term track. Research Points from rebirth buy multipliers, speed, explosives, and higher totem or potion caps. A crate boost is temporary; research stays.
Is a crate better than launching for cash?
Usually no. The crate is a roll. Filling to 100 EXP and launching is the real money loop. Use the crate to speed a session, not to skip machines.
